Sofia Tchernev (born Kuzeva) was born on 16 June 1967 in Smolyan. She grew up in Haskovo as the daughter of the engineer Margarita Kuzeva and the actor Peter Kuzev. In 1985, she began her studies at NATFIS “Krustyo Sarafov” in the acting class of professor Entcho Halatchev and professor Snezhina Tankovska. During this period she starred for the first time in the famous Bulgarian film "Vtchera" directed by Ivan Andonov, where she played Dana. After her graduation in 1989 she started working in the "Sofia" theatre in the Bulgarian capital. In 1993 she married the actor Pantcho Tchernev. They have one daughter. In 1996, she won a scholarship for an international actor project "Let´s remove the borders" of  the German Foreign Ministry. Sofia Tchernev works and lives with her family in Germany.

Advertisement: In 1992,  the "Ford" publicity film directed by Zhezko Davidov, in which Sofia Tchernev played, won the "Best advertisement" price.
